Chrome Web Store edition
Version: 0.2.1. Last updated: 2026-11-07.
Gemini Home Page is an independent, unofficial extension and is not affiliated with Google. It opens the official Gemini website in new tabs and passes prompts explicitly entered using Chrome's gemini omnibox keyword to the Gemini page. It does not change your default search engine.
Data processed
- The extension stores auto-send and appearance preferences locally in Chrome (
chrome.storage.local). These preferences remain until changed or the extension is removed. - Prompts awaiting delivery, timestamps, request identifiers and related tab/document identifiers are held in Chrome's session storage, not a developer server. A prompt becomes ineligible for delivery after 10 minutes; expired entries are removed on subsequent processing, rather than by a guaranteed ten-minute deletion timer. Entries are consumed before a send attempt or when switching to manual mode; associated state is removed on tab closure, and session storage is cleared when the browser session ends.
- The extension observes navigation events to match the requested prompt to the correct Gemini document, handle a Google sign-in redirect and prevent unintended or repeated sending. It does not retain a log of browsing history or send navigation events to the developer. While the permission can expose navigation metadata, unrelated navigation is used only to discard stale state.
- On Gemini pages, the content script checks the input and send controls to fill the user's requested prompt and avoid overwriting an existing draft. It does not scrape chat history or read account cookies or authentication tokens.
- On the Gemini page, the content script detects whether a trusted keyboard or pointer interaction has occurred. It uses only this yes/no signal to stop automatic sending so it does not race the user. It does not record the keys pressed, pointer coordinates, an interaction history, or keystroke contents. This signal is not sent to the developer.
Where prompts go
When a user enters a prompt through the extension, the prompt is filled into the official Gemini webpage. Automatic sending is enabled by default and can be disabled in the extension settings. Submitted prompts are then processed by Google under Google's applicable Gemini and privacy terms. Gemini may require an account and may retain conversations according to the user's Google settings. The extension cannot control Google's processing or promise deletion from Google.
The extension includes compatibility handling for explicit prompt-bearing Gemini links. URL fragments are removed as early as possible but may be accessible to the website or browser history; they should not be treated as a secrecy boundary. The store edition's normal keyword flow keeps its queued prompt in session storage rather than placing it in the initial navigation URL.
No developer collection
The extension has no developer-operated backend, advertising, telemetry, analytics, remote executable code or third-party prompt proxy. It does not sell user data or use it for advertising, creditworthiness or lending decisions. Data is used only to perform the disclosed prompt-delivery and settings functions.
Limited Use
The extension’s use of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide the clearly disclosed, user-facing Gemini prompt bridge and its safety controls. It is not used for advertising, sold to third parties, or used to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
Controls
Disable automatic sending in settings to require manual confirmation within Gemini. Close the tab to clear its queued extension state. Remove the extension to remove its stored preferences. Manage Gemini conversations and account data separately through Google.
This privacy website
This public page is hosted on Cloudflare. Loading it sends ordinary connection and HTTP request information, such as IP address, user agent and the requested URL, to Cloudflare for delivery and security. This website has no analytics scripts, advertising, cookies set by its application, forms or prompt-processing endpoints. The page does not receive prompts from the extension. Cloudflare may process operational and security information under its own policies. This is separate from the extension’s local data handling and Google’s processing of Gemini prompts.
